Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club (UMYC)

The Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club is an informal group that enjoys sailing competition on the lake and fellowship off the lake. The club holds races for E’s, MC’s and Keel boats most Saturdays and Wednesday evenings in the west portion of Lake Minnetonka known as Upper Lake.

The club also boasts an very active social calendar. These informal events include Friday evenings "Bar & Grill” at the yacht club on the deck overlooking beautiful Lake Minnetonka. In addition, we host various specialty events and parties throughout the summer at member’s homes who live on the lake. Look at the Events page of this Web site for more details.

The Upper Minnetonka Yacht Club is a fun and exciting organization. As Yacht Clubs go, we are exclusivly-inclusive; membership is open to the public. The Upper Minnetonka Sailing School is a non-profit (501c3) organization committed to the training and development of “sailors”.

The goals of UMSS are to:

• Introduce the sport of sailing in our community.
• Teach sailing safety and sportsmanship.
• Provide adult instruction to encourage family participation.
• Prepare participants for competitive sailboat racing
