Upper Minnetonka Sailing School (UMSS)

Upper Minnetonka Sailing School is excited about our fabulous adult (age 16+) sailing program. Using safe and dry keel boats with only 3 students per ASA certified instructor, it is easy and quick to start sailing right away. Whether you are new to this fun, life-long sport, or want to hone your skills, UMSS has the program for you. We personalize all classes to meet the needs of the individual students, making each class high touch and low stress.

 This course is offered 12 different times throughout the summer. Students may choose between weekend or weeknight class times.

"Learn to Sail" - The name says it all. After four 3-hour sessions you will be a sailor. this class provides all of the fundamentals of safe and enjoyable sailing. After completing the 12-hour course, students are invited to crew in a race.

"Keel Grad" - Is the perfect way to hone your sailing skills after completing Learn to Sail, or if returning to the sport with a basic foundation of sailing skills. This class is scheduled 5 time and each class is offered in three 3-hour sessions.

"Race Your Own Boat" – 12 hours of individualized instruction on a mutually agreed schedule. Provides a personal coach for whatever is needed to get you comfortable racing with UMYC.

"MC Clinics" – Weekly peer and instructor based clinics free for all UMYC members to hone their racing skills. Participants are able to come when they want.
